Developing Your Industry and Your Career
Nationwide, our members include TPAs, insurance carriers, managing general underwriters, audit firms, physician hospital organizations, broker/agents, human resource managers and health care consultants.
HCAA was formed in 1980 as the Independent Administrators Association, a California-based not-for-profit that acted as a legislative and regulatory advisory group for third party administrators and related service providers. Following the passage of ERISA and similar laws, third party administrators needed a voice in Washington as well as educational opportunities with leading experts in the industry.
For over 30 years, the Health Care Administrators Association (HCAA) has supported third party administrators through educational opportunities from leading industry experts. With the 2010 passing of health care reform legislation, HCAA has also committed to take a leading role in legislative advocacy, working to increase its influence with policymakers and the media in order to transform the TPA industry and its role in health care.
To improve the quality and cost effectiveness of health care administration by promoting education, information and the exchange of ideas.
"We are members of other associations, but we are consistently extremely satisfied with the HCAA. Many of the other association conferences or meetings do not always benefit us as their topics are not always relevant to our business – or the speakers only provide a one-sided view of the issue. HCAA is always on the cutting edge and they show you the pros and cons of every issue, the ramifications and the benefits."
