Keynote Presentation:

The Power of Teamwork

Michael McMillan
Michael McMillan

The Blue Angels are considered one of the world's best performance teams. To say they are above average is an understatement; better put, they are abnormal. Sigmund Freud believed by studying the abnormal, we could gain a better understanding of the normal. Based on this thinking, Michael provides insight from the best-selling book he co-authored with Blue Angels pilot Scott Beare.

In this presentation, Michael explores the fundamentals of teamwork and shares the key principles employed by the Blue Angels to help organizations better understand how teamwork relates to their business and to their lives. Learn how these ten principles build the foundation for the most important value of all-trust.

Session 6: Evolution of PBM Strategies to Control Pharmacy Spend

Asif Ally
Asif Ally
, R.Ph – VP, Market Strategy - CVS Caremark

Health care costs continue to rise. By 2019, national health spending is expected to reach $4.5 trillion and comprise 19.3 percent of GDP1. It is generally accepted that effective use of pharmaceuticals through the pharmacy benefit can have the greatest impact on outcomes and total health care costs.

An evolution has taken place and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) now offer plan sponsors cutting-edge solutions that can improve savings and the member experience. For example, today $290 billion of avoidable health care expenditures are directly attributed to medication non-compliance2. Innovative solutions to capitalize on the “generic wave”; improve adherence for those with chronic conditions and control specialty spend are some of the near term opportunities for plan sponsors. In addition, the advancement of utilization management programs with the introduction of pharmacogenomics will change the way pharmacy care is delivered in the next few years.

Asif will provide insights on how pharmacy benefit strategies are evolving and share specific solutions TPAs can employ to help clients improve savings and the member experience.

Session 9: High Performance Living – Tools to Supercharge Your Life

Chris Cox
Chris Cox
– Amplitude, LLC

Moving at over 160 miles per hour in a specially constructed racecar can actually teach you a few lessons about life and leadership! In this presentation, Chris shares some of these lessons from her own experience as a racecar driver, including:

• Getting out of the driveway – how do you get started on that big dream or goal in your life? Often it looks so daunting it’s hard to “get out of the driveway” and get started.
• Looking where you want to go – racers and leaders both know you have to stay focused on the goal. Yet, it’s easy to get distracted by what’s going on around you that pulls you off course – on the track and in life.
• Building a personal pit crew – everyone needs support to achieve their goals – and we frequently forget about the most important supporter of all – our own thoughts. We are often our own worst enemies, and those thoughts are as dangerous as going out on the track without checking the tires and oil level in a racecar.
• The lesson of passing – on the racetrack the obstacles are clear – the cars around you, the wreck in front of you, the oil slick on the track. Obstacles in life are just as dangerous and frequently hold us back from pursuing or achieving our goals. Learning how to confront them and pass them along the way is imperative to our success. Chris has put these and other lessons into a high energy, motivational session that will spark your passion to live the life of your dreams. You will use a “track map” to create, or reconnect with, the dreams of your life. You’ll leave “revved up” with new tools and energy to reach your goals and achieve greater results!
